CH-EU Shipping, Customs and VAT

Switzerland is not a member of the European Union. Hence customs regulations must be paid attention to. The transfer of goods is liberalized as far as possible. The free trade agreement between the EU and Switzerland enables businesses to import and export almost any goods without having to pay duty. The goods are registered with the customs office by our logistics partner using an import customs declaration. No customs duty has to be paid.

In cross-border transactions there is the issue of proper performance regarding VAT.

As our shipment is a tax-free export, the invoice is basically issued without VAT – thus strictly net.

Any goods must be paid taxes on upon their entering the EU. Our logistics partner has been commissioned to take care of this. Upon delivery of our shipment by the logistics partner, the German import turnover tax, reduced to 7% for orthopaedic articles, must be paid in cash.
